The date has to be 45 to 90 minutes long with a person of legitimate romantic interest.
The student has to pay and has to make the invitation not by text or e-mail but in person.... The date cannot involve alcohol, kissing, and sex.
I'm a little curious on two counts: 1) what if a student asked people out but got turned down? How many rejections add up to extra credit? and 2) What if a student was already in a committed relationship? Is the student just out of luck for extra credit?
I enthusiastically agree with the professor's main point. We are losing (or have lost) the social script of dating, and it would not be a bad thing to have.
For extra credit and a prize, follow her rules* and go on a date!
